May 20th

Carlton Marsh: the first-summer PURPLE HERON still on Share Marsh.

Kessingland: a Raven south over the levels and a Goosander on the shore pool.

Minsmere: a Black Tern on South Scrape.

Hollesley Marsh: eight Spoonbills and a Wood Sandpiper viewed from the pill box.

Barham: an Osprey over.

Lakenheath Fen: a Glossy Ibis seen from Joist Fen viewpoint.

May 19th

Carlton Marsh: PURPLE HERON still viewable from the viewing platform on the Share Marsh trail.

Benacre Broad: two Spoonbills and a Little Stint.

Boyton Marsh: Wood Sandpiper on the flash.

Hollesley Marsh: nine Spoonbills and two TEMMINCK'S STINTS.

Shingle Street: a Spoonbill on the saline lagoons south of Battery Cottage.

Bramford: a Hooded Crow or hybrid flew over.

 

May 18th

Carlton Marsh: PURPLE HERON viewable from the viewing platform on the Share Marsh trail.

Minsmere: a reported RED-FOOTED FALCON between Lucky Pool and Leiston old abbey.

Boyton Marsh: two Wood Sandpipers on the flash.

May 17th

Carlton Marsh: a PURPLE HERON viewable from the viewing platform on the Share Marsh trail.

Minsmere: a Spoonbill over and a report of three PURPLE HERON from Bittern Hide.​

Eastbridge: three Common Crane.

Westleton Heath: three Common Crane high over heading west.

Shingle Street: a Spoonbill and a female Red-backed Shrike.

Woodbridge: Goshawk over Bredfield Road.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still for the 20th day.

Great Finborough: a HOOPOE photographed in a private garden.

Mildenhall: Common Quail heard singing early morning at Mildenhall Fen.

May 16th

Southwold: a Puffin north.

Boyton: a Cattle Egret flew north.​

Hollesley Marsh: nine Spoonbills and four Wood Sandpiper.

Shingle Street: a singing Corn Bunting.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still in front of the Obs.

Pipps Ford: an Osprey present which then flew north.​

May 15th

Carlton Marsh: at least three RED-FOOTED FALCONS still on the reserve.​

Covehithe:  a Common Crane.

Hollesley Marsh: two drake Garganey and two Wood Sandpiper.

Huntingfield: MONTAGU'S HARRIER flew north.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still in front of the Obs.

 

May 14th

Carlton Marsh: at least three RED-FOOTED FALCONS still on the reserve.

Minsmere: a TEMMINCK'S STINT and a Glossy Ibis.

Eastbridge: a Common Crane and five Arctic Terns.​

Aldeburgh:  two Common Crane at Town Marshes.

Hollesley Marsh: two drake Garganey, two Common Cranes and four Wood Sandpipers.

Woodbridge: Raven soaring over Bredfield Road.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still in front of the Obs.

May 13th

Carlton Marsh: at least three RED-FOOTED FALCONS still remained on the reserve and an unconfirmed report of a BOOTED EAGLE .

Benacre Broad: three Spoonbills.

Minsmere: a Glossy Ibis on East Scrape.

Trimley Marshes: three TEMMINCK'S STINTS on the winter flood and a Little Stint on the estuary.

Great Finborough: a RED-FOOTED FALCON flew east.

Livermere: up to nine Black Terns over the lake.

Lakenheath Fen: six Black Terns and a Little Gull at Hockwold Washes.

May 12th

Carlton Marsh: at least three RED-FOOTED FALCONS still remained on the reserve, and a PURPLE HERON flew from Peto's Marsh across the river.

Minsmere: a Wood Sandpiper from Wildlife Lookout (West Hide).

North Warren: a Wood Sandpiper seen from Sluice Cottage viewing platform.​

Boyton Marsh:  a drake Garganey and three Spoonbills.

Trimley Marshes: four TEMMINCK'S STINTS and a Little Stint on the winter flood.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still present for the 15th day, also a Black Redstart and a female Whinchat.

Livermere: up to eight Black Terns over the lake.

May 11th

Carlton Marsh: at least four RED-FOOTED FALCONS still on the reserve, and a BOOTED EAGLE flew south.

Minsmere: a Wood Sandpiper from Wildlife Lookout (West Hide).

North Warren: a PURPLE HERON again seen around The Fen reedbed from Crossing Cottage viewpoint.​

Hazelwood Marshes:  two Little Stints.

Hollesley Marsh: a drake Garganey.

Shingle Street: Spoonbill flew north, a male Whinchat near the tennis court and a Corn Bunting between here and East Lane.

Trimley Marshes: two TEMMINCK'S STINTS still present from Benson Hide.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still in front of the Obs.

Lakenheath Fen: Wood Sandpiper at Hockwold Washes.​​

Carlton Marsh: at least five RED-FOOTED FALCONS still on the reserve, a PURPLE HERON and a Spoonbill.

North Warren: a PURPLE HERON again seen around The Fen reedbed and from Crossing Cottage.

Aldeburgh:  three Spoonbills flew over heading north.

Hollesley Marsh: two drake Garganey from the viewing platform.

Trimley Marshes: three TEMMINCK'S STINT and a Little Stint on the Winter Flood.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still in front of the Obs.

May 9th

Carlton Marsh: at least six RED-FOOTED FALCONS still on the reserve plus a Little Gull.

Covehithe Broad: a Spoonbill at the south end.

North Warren: a PURPLE HERON again seen around The Fen reedbed and a RED-FOOTED FALCON.

Ramsholt: a drake Garganey on the flood.

Hollesley Marsh: a Little Ringed Plover and a Wood Sandpiper.

Lakenheath Fen: a RED-FOOTED FALCON and a Wood Sandpiper at Hockwold Washes.

May 8th

Carlton Marsh: at least six RED-FOOTED FALCONS still on the reserve plus a Crane flew onto Share Marsh.

Minsmere: a Little Ringed Plover from North Hide.

North Warren: a PURPLE HERON again seen around The Fen reedbed plus two Wood Sandpipers.

Felixstowe Ferry: a Spoonbill on the saltings.

Hollesley Marsh: a Little Ringed Plover, two Spoonbills and three Garganey.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still in front of the Obs.

May 7th

Carlton Marsh: five RED-FOOTED FALCONS still on the reserve plus a BOOTED EAGLE flew north over mid-afternoon.

North Warren: a PURPLE HERON again seen around The Fen reedbed before going to roost at Thorpeness Meare.

Hollesley Marsh: a Wood Sandpipers and a drake Garganey.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still in front of the Obs.

May 6th

Carlton Marsh: five (1 adult male, 2 first-summer males, 2 first-summer females) RED-FOOTED FALCONS still on the reserve.

North Warren: a PURPLE HERON again seen around The Fen reedbed before going to roost at Thorpeness Meare.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel still in front of the Obs.

May 5th

Lowestoft: a total of four Manx Shearwaters flew north.

Carlton Marsh: five RED-FOOTED FALCONS on the reserve and the PURPLE HERON flew onto Whitecast Marsh.

Southwold: an Arctic Skua flew north as did two Manx Shearwaters.

Minsmere: an adult Little Gull on the South Scrape.

North Warren: a PURPLE HERON again seen around The Fen reedbed.

May 4th

Carlton Marsh: a total of seven  RED-FOOTED FALCONS on the reserve, later some roosting and showing extremely well on Jensen's Island. A Crane over Peto's Marsh with three in the afternoon and two Grey Partridges flew onto a field adjacent to the central track. The PURPLE HERON flew into Whitecast Marsh.

Benacre: a Blue-headed Wagtail in the paddock at Beach Farm.

Westleton Heath: a male RED-FOOTED FALCON near the quarry.

Minsmere: two Spoonbills on the South Levels and a Short-eared Owl at the Chapel fields..

North Warren: one PURPLE HERON flew from the roost into the reedbed. At dusk both birds were seen to go to roost. The BLACK-WINGED STILT again on the first pool to the south of the sluice plus a Spoonbill north.

Hollesley Marsh: an immature Merlin.

Sutton Hoo: a singing WOOD WARBLER.

Bawdsey: a male RED-FOOTED FALCON flew in off at East Lane, circling high and then south towards Bawdsey Manor.

Landguard: an adult male RED-FOOTED FALCON flew north offshore.

Capel St. Mary: a BLACK KITE circling south-west of the village. 

Lakenheath Fen: 10 Arctic Terns at Hockwold Washes plus a Garganey present.

 

May 3rd

Corton: four BEE-EATERS flew low south over Broadland Sands  (08:19). Noted at further locations further south:

> Southwold: south (09:03).

> Walberswick: from the ferry carry park heading fast south (09:06).

> Thorpeness: heard going over (09:33).

> North Warren: low south (09:37).

 

Carlton Marsh: five (3m, 2f) RED-FOOTED FALCONS again present as was the PURPLE HERON.

Kessingland: a NIGHT HERON flew east over the sewage works.

Benacre: two Blue-headed Wagtails in the paddock at Beach Farm and two Spoonbills on the Broad.

Southwold: a Spoonbill high north.

Minsmere: the RED-NECKED PHALAROPE still on East Scrape with six Spoonbills later, three Wood Sandpipers and two Spoonbills on the South Levels.

North Warren: a BLACK-WINGED STILT on the first pool to the south of the sluice plus a Wood Sandpiper. Two PURPLE HERONS landed in The Fen reedbed, later going to roost at Thorpeness Meare.

Hollesley Marsh: two Wood Sandpipers.

Cavenham Heath: a female RED-FOOTED FALCON plus an Osprey north over.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel again in front of the Obs.

May 2nd

Carlton Marsh: the PURPLE HERON again present at Peto's Marsh plus an amazing count of five first-summer male RED-FOOTED FALCONS that went to roost together.

Minsmere: the RED-NECKED PHALAROPE still on East Scrape.

North Warren: a BLACK-WINGED STILT on the first pool to the south of the sluice plus a Wood Sandpiper.

Hollesley Marsh: a possible RED-FOOTED FALCON plus a Little Stint and a Jack Snipe.

Landguard: a female RED-FOOTED FALCON flew north offshore plus the Ring Ouzel again in front of the Obs.

May 1st

Carlton Marsh: the PURPLE HERON again present at Peto's Marsh plus six Wood Sandpipers.

Tinkers Marsh: a TEMMINCK'S STINT on the western pool.

Minsmere: a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE on East Scrape plus a drake Garganey.

Boyton Marsh: a Cattle Egret.

Hollesley Marsh: two Wood Sandpipers on the scrape, three Spoonbills and four Little Stints. A Channel Wagtail late afternoon.

Landguard: the Ring Ouzel again in front of the Obs.

Shelley: a female RED-FOOTED FALCON briefly at Giffords Flash.
