September 30th

Reydon: a WHITE-TAILED EAGLE circling over St. Felix school, heading east. 

Walberswick: FAN-TAILED WARBLER again present in the usual area, plus a Snow Bunting and a juvenile Little Gull.

Blythburgh: the WHITE-TAILED EAGLE then seen from the White Hart pub car park over the Blyth Estuary heading for Hen Reedbeds.

Alde Estuary: an Osprey moving low up river from Cob Island.

Boyton Marsh: two Cattle Egrets.

 

September 29th

Covehithe: a Short-eared Owl in off at Covehithe cliffs.

Minsmere: Little Stint on South Scrape and a Common Redstart in the car park.

Aldeburgh Marsh: two juvenile Little Stints on the first pools south of the allotments.

Hazlewood Marsh: an Osprey in the distance from the hide.

Landguard: three Black Redstarts and a Common Redstart.

 

September 28th

Lowestoft: a Pied Flycatcher south of the felled area behind Denes Oval.

Carlton Marsh: a Glossy Ibis still at Share Marsh.

Southwold: a Short-eared Owl flew in off plus a Pied Flycatcher at the sewage works.

Walberswick: a Snow Bunting along the shingle ridge, 0.4m miles south of the black beach huts.

Alde Estuary: a Pied Flycatcher and a Redstart.

Iken: an Osprey at the Alde and six Cattle Egrets along Sandy Lane.

Ipswich: a Raven over east Ipswich.

Landguard: three Glossy Ibises flew south.

Corton: a Yellow-browed Warbler showing well south-west of Corton church.

Lowestoft: a Yellow-browed Warbler along Crown Score.

Carlton Marsh: a Glossy Ibis on the end pool, viewed from the river wall near Share Marsh plus an Osprey still.

Minsmere: a Glossy Ibis on East Scrape before flying north.

Sudbourne: four Cattle Egrets with cattle at Fazeboons, along the road to Snape.

Boyton Marsh: a Cattle Egret in the farmyard paddock.

 

September 26th

Southwold: an Arctic Skua north.

Walberswick: a Manx Shearwater north (11:22).

Minsmere: a Merlin in off and south towards Sizewell.

Sizewell: a Manx Shearwater north (10:55).

Thorpeness: a Manx Shearwater north (10:49). A Sooty Shearwater, a Great Skua, A Black-throated Diver and an Arctic Skua all north offshore. A Firecrest around OCP.

Aldeburgh: a Brambling east over the town.

Slaughden: a Manx Shearwater north (10:39).

Alde Estuary: two Yellow-browed Warblers, a Firecrest and a Tree Pipit.

Orford: a Pied Flycatcher and a Redstart on the sewage works track.

Sudbourne: eight Cattle Egrets with cattle at Fazeboons, along the road to Snape.

Bawdsey: a Manx Shearwater north off East Lane (09:50).

Witnesham: a Raven on pylons off Rose Hill road.

 

September 25th

Lowestoft: two Sooty Shearwaters north from North Beach.

Kessingland: a Redstart along Pedlars Lane.

Southwold: a Yellow-browed Warbler still at the sewage works plus a Pied Flycatcher. A Spotted Flycatcher flew in off the sea and up past the Lord Nelson pub.

Blyth Estuary: a Grey Phalarope photographed.

Aldeburgh: a Whinchat.

Slaughden: Pomarine Skua south.

Orford: two Pied Flycatcher on the sewage works track and one in Town Meadow.

Boyton Marsh: two Cattle Egrets.

Bawdsey: a Sooty Shearwater north off East Lane.

 

September 24th

Corton: a female and two male Redstarts and a Spotted Flycatcher around Corton new sewage works.

Lowestoft: Sooty Shearwater north from North Beach.

Southwold: a Long-tailed Skua north and close in south later. 11+ Sooty Shearwaters and two Manx Shearwaters north, an Arctic Skua and a Pomarine Skua south. A Short-eared Owl south. Two Yellow-browed Warblers by the sewage works.

Aldeburgh: a female Pied Flycatcher east end of the path by the allotments.

Woodbridge: an Osprey off Kyson Point.

Lakenheath Fen: a Wood Sandpiper at Joist Fen.

 

September 23rd

Carlton Marsh: an Osprey fishing over the river.

Southwold: an Arctic Skua south.

Thorpeness: an Arctic Skua north.

Felixstowe Ferry: two juvenile Curlew Sandpipers.

Landguard: Brambling and four Black Redstarts.

 

September 22nd

Lowestoft: Sooty Shearwater and a Manx Shearwater north.

Southwold: a Long-tailed Skua south, a Sooty Shearwater and a Manx Shearwater north, three Arctic Skuas and one Arctic Tern north.

Boyton Marsh: two Cattle Egrets and an Osprey on the Butley River and later seen further south towards Orfordness/Hollesley.

September 21st

Gorleston: nine Arctic Skuas south.

Corton: two Great Skuas south.

Gunton: 12 Pink-footed Geese in off.

Lowestoft: 23 Arctic Skuas, a Great Skua and a Manx Shearwater south.

Carlton Marsh: Glossy Ibis at the west end of Share Marsh.

Walberswick: a ringtail Hen Harrier near five ways.

Aldeburgh Marsh: 11 Curlew Sandpipers, a Little Stint, two Spoonbills, an Osprey and two Whinchats.

Hazlewood Marsh: an Ospreys and eight Spoonbills.

Landguard: three Black Redstarts and three Sotted Flycatchers.

Raydon: Merlin on the disused airfield.

September 20th

Breydon Water: 36 Curlew Sandpipers.

Lowestoft: the female Ruddy Duck again at Leathes Ham.

Benacre: a juvenile SABINE'S GULL on the Broad.

Southwold: a flock of eight Black Terns south.

Hen Reedbeds: an Osprey and six Spoonbills.

Aldeburgh: a Glossy Ibis south.

Aldeburgh Marsh: 14 Curlew Sandpipers and a Little Stint.

Shingle Street: the Glossy Ibis seen earlier over Aldeburgh passed south over Shingle Street and a Whinchat.

Melton: three Curlew Sandpipers on the River Deben from Dock Lane.

Lackford: a juvenile Arctic Tern at the sailing lake.

 

September 19th

Breydon Water: 19 Spoonbills were seen leaving from a flock of 28. Later two birds returned. The flock were later seen further south along coast:

> Southwold: 17 south over Southwold (08:18).

> Minsmere: 17 south over the Levels (08:44).

> North Warren: 16 south towards Aldeburgh (08:55).

> Shingle Street: 16 south, viewed from East Lane (09:30).

Kessingland: a Whinchat near Benacre Sluice.

Walberswick: two FAN-TAILED WARBLERS still present in the usual area.

Minsmere: an Osprey over.

Aldeburgh Marsh: c20 Curlew Sandpipers.

Iken: an Osprey hunting between Iken and Snape Maltings.

Woodbridge: an Osprey by Kyson Point.

Landguard: the Wryneck again present.

September 18th

Lowestoft: the female Ruddy Duck again at Leathes Ham. Male and female Black Redstarts at a disused building at Ness Point.

Southwold: a Pomarine Skua and an Arctic Skua south.

Thorpeness: a Long-tailed Skua south, three Balearic Shearwaters south and a Manx Shearwater north.

Aldeburgh: a HONEY-BUZZARD south over the town.

Aldeburgh Marsh: 19+ Curlew Sandpipers.

Hazlewood Marsh: two Ospreys and ten Spoonbills.

Bawdsey: an adult Long-tailed Skua south at East Lane and a Merlin in off.

Landguard: a Wryneck again present, an Arctic Skua south and a Merlin south offshore.

September 17th

Lowestoft: the female Ruddy Duck again at Leathes Ham.

Bungay: a Glossy Ibis feeding beyond Fen Farm Dairy.

Benacre: a Little Stint and four Curlew Sandpipers on the Broad.

Minsmere: a Cattle Egret and an Osprey.

Slaughden: two Long-tailed Skuas south plus an Arctic Skua south.

Aldeburgh Marsh: ten Curlew Sandpipers and five Spoonbills.

Hazlewood Marsh: a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER on the falling tide, an Osprey and two Spoonbills.

Landguard: a Wryneck again present, a Short-eared Owl, a Tree Pipit, a Spotted Flycatcher and a Whinchat.

Trimley Marsh: three Cattle Egrets.

Wherstead: an Osprey just up river from the Orwell Bridge.

September 16th

Lowestoft: the female Ruddy Duck again at Leathes Ham.

Benacre: two Little Stints and nine Curlew Sandpipers on the Broad.

Aldeburgh Marsh: 18 juvenile Curlew Sandpipers, a Wood Sandpiper, 2+ Ospreys and six Spoonbills.

Landguard: a Wryneck again present.

September 15th

Lowestoft: the female Ruddy Duck again at Leathes Ham.

Aldeburgh Marsh: 14 Curlew Sandpipers.

Lakenheath Fen: a Wryneck in an area of no general access on the reserve.

Breydon Water: 27+ Curlew Sandpipers.

Lowestoft: the female Ruddy Duck again at Leathes Ham.

Benacre Broad: 11 Curlew Sandpipers and a Little Stint.

Walberswick: three FAN-TAILED WARBLERS still present in the usual area.

Aldeburgh Marsh: 14 Curlew Sandpipers and two Ospreys

Alde Estuary: a Yellow-browed Warbler and a Firecrest.

Hazlewood Marsh: three Ospreys and a Glossy Ibis.

Landguard: the HOOPOE again around Adastral Close, viewed from View Point Road, the Wryneck in front of the Obs plus a WOOD WARBLER trapped and ringed at LBO.

 

September 13th

Breydon Water: 17 Curlew Sandpipers.

Lowestoft: an Osprey going south just offshore from Ness Point.

Carlton Marsh: an Osprey just west of Peto's Marsh.

Walberswick: 2+ FAN-TAILED WARBLERS still present in the usual area.

Minsmere: an Osprey going south and then continued over Sizewell.

Aldeburgh Marsh: 19 Curlew Sandpipers, six Spoonbill, a Wood Sandpipers, Whinchat and Osprey

Iken: an Osprey over the River Alde.

Landguard: the HOOPOE again around Adastral Close, viewed from View Point Road, the Wryneck near Icky Ridge plus GREY-HEADED WAGTAIL by the seawatch hide.

September 12th

Gorleston: an Arctic Skua in the bay.

Lowestoft: the female Ruddy Duck again at Leathes Ham.

Bungay: a Glossy Ibis in a dyke beyond Fen Farm Dairy.

Benacre Broad: seven Curlew Sandpipers and four Little Stints.

Aldeburgh Marsh: at least six Curlew Sandpipers and four Wood Sandpipers.

Boyton Marsh: a Curlew Sandpipers.

Landguard: the HOOPOE again around Adastral Close, viewed from View Point Road and the Wryneck in front of the Observatory plus eight Spoonbills south.

Trimley Marsh: Curlew Sandpiper.

September 11th

Lowestoft: the female Ruddy Duck again at Leathes Ham.

Benacre Broad: six Curlew Sandpipers and four Little Stints.

Aldeburgh Marsh: c9 Curlew Sandpipers and a Wood Sandpiper.

Landguard: the HOOPOE again around Adastral Close, viewed from View Point Road and the Wryneck again on Icky Ridge.

 

September 10th

Gorleston: a 1CY Caspian Gull on the beach.

Lowestoft: a Ruddy Duck at Leathes Ham.

Carlton Marsh: an Osprey over Peto's Marsh.

Hen Reedbeds: an Osprey on a post at Blythburgh end of the estuary.

Alde Estuary: Spoonbill seen in flight.

Iken: an Osprey.

Landguard: the HOOPOE again around Adastral Close, viewed from View Point Road.

Trimley Marsh: a Glossy Ibis on the main lagoon and a juvenile Curlew Sandpiper.

September 9th

Kessingland: a Whinchat north of Benacre Sluice.

Benacre Broad: three Little Stints.

Southwold: a Ring Ouzel in STW pines. 

Walberswick: a juvenile FAN-TAILED WARBLER still present in the usual area, three Spoonbills north plus a juvenile/first-winter Caspian Gull and two juvenile/first-winter Yellow-legged Gull at the harbour.

Hen Reedbeds: an Osprey on a post.

Hazlewood Marsh: two Ospreys and 12 Spoonbills.

Snape Marsh: two Whinchats along the Sailors Path.

Orfordness: 22 Whinchats, five Spotted Flycatchers, a HONEY-BUZZARD, an Osprey, four Spoonbills, a Purple Sandpiper and a Little Stint.

Hollesley Marsh: three Glossy Ibises and four Redstarts.

Landguard: three Black Redstarts, one Common Redstart, a Wryneck in front of the Obs and a HOOPOE around Adastral Close and the southern end of the Common.

 

September 8th

Carlton Marsh: 20+ Glossy Ibises on Peto's Marsh then flew towards Ellough.

Kessingland: two Whinchats.

Benacre Broad: two Little Stints.

Southwold: 19 Glossy Ibises south over Town Marsh.

Walberswick: 3+ FAN-TAILED WARBLERS still present in the usual area.

Dunwich: the Glossy Ibis flock from Southwold flew over Dunwich and then Minsmere. A Whinchat on Dunwich Heath.

Westleton Heath: a HONEY-BUZZARD seen between 2-2.15.

Sizewell: three Little Gulls and a Black Tern by the outfall.

Eastbridge: four Whinchats plus a HONEY-BUZZARD in an area of no general access.

North Warren: the Glossy Ibis flock seen further up the coast landed onto South Marsh with at least 15 seen.

Orford: Tree Pipit at Chantry Point and two Spoonbills north.

Felixstowe Ferry: Glossy Ibis flew south over.

Landguard: HOOPOE flew south opposite Icky Ridge.

Trimley Marsh: WOOD WARBLER in the plantation along the access track.

Raydon: two Whinchats on the disused airfield near the war memorial.​​​

Lowestoft: a Sooty Shearwater north and a Manx Shearwater past Ness point.

Benacre Broad: three Little Stints.

Southwold: a Sooty Shearwater north, a CORY'S SHEARWATER north and then south again and a Long-tailed Skua south.

Walberswick: FAN-TAILED WARBLER still present in the usual area.

Thorpeness: a Sooty Shearwater north.

Aldeburgh Estuary: two Redstarts and three Whinchats.

Slaughden: three Arctic Skuas south and one north and a Manx Shearwater south.

Minsmere: a CORY'S SHEARWATER and a Long-tailed Skua south.

Sizewell: two Caspian Gulls, a Yellow-legged Gull, two Little Gulls and an Arctic Skua.

Iken: two Ospreys.

East Lane: a Manx Shearwater and four Black Terns south.

Felixstowe Ferry: Curlew Sandpiper.

Landguard: Sooty Shearwater south, a Short-eared Owl, a Pied Flycatcher, three Redstarts and a Whinchat.

 

September 6th

Lowestoft: a Sooty Shearwater north, five Artic Skuas and two Black Terns south past Ness point.

Carlton Marsh: a Spoonbill and an Osprey.

Kessingland: the BARRED WARBLER still present north of Benacre Sluice and a Pied Flycatcher. 

Walberswick: at least two FAN-TAILED WARBLERS still present in the usual area.

Minsmere: a Pied Flycatcher in the Sluice bushes and THIRTY FOUR Glossy Ibises in off the sea this afternoon.

Thorpeness: a BARRED WARBLER at the Old Caravan Park Sluice and eight Cattle Egrets north over.

Aldeburgh Estuary: four Cattle Egrets, six Pied Flycatchers and a Spotted Flycatcher.

Aldeburgh Marsh: a Pied Flycatcher.

Iken: an Osprey.

Felixstowe: an Artic Skua south.

Landguard: a Long-tailed Skua , three Pied Flycatchers, two Black Restarts, a Redstart and a Spotted Flycatcher.

September 5th

Lowestoft: two HONEY-BUZZARDS and a Tree Pipit.

Oulton Broad: a HOOPOE still in a private garden.

Kessingland: the BARRED WARBLER still present north of Benacre Sluice.

Benacre Broad: a HONEY-BUZZARD south just inland. 

Walberswick: at least one FAN-TAILED WARBLER still present in the usual area.

Eastbridge: a HONEY-BUZZARD over.

Sizewell: a Merlin in off the sea and ten Little Gulls at the outfall.

Aldeburgh Marsh: three Whinchat.

Hazlewood Marshes: three Ospreys, a Whinchat and a Redstart.

Iken: an Osprey and a Glossy Ibis west towards Snape.

Orford: two HONEY-BUZZARDS and a PALLID SWIFT.

Boyton Marsh: the BLACK STORK high over the Butley river in the afternoon.

Shingle Street: a Whinchat at the tennis courts.

East Lane: a Whinchat.

Kirton: a HONEY-BUZZARD south.

Landguard: two Whinchat, two Black Restarts, a Redstart and two Spotted Flycatchers.

September 4th

Kessingland: the BARRED WARBLER still present north of Benacre Sluice.

Benacre Broad: a Hen Harrier south, also a Wood Sandpiper, a Spoonbill and a Little Ringed Plover.

Southwold: a Manx Shearwater, and three Arctic Skua south.

Walberswick: FAN-TAILED WARBLER still present in the usual area and a PALLID SWIFT reported.

Sizewell: a Black Tern and four Arctic Terns at the outfall.

Slaughden: a Manx Shearwater, an Arctic Skua south and a Fulmar north.

Aldeburgh Marsh: two Curlew Sandpipers.

Iken: three Ospreys.

Shingle Street: three Whinchats at the tennis courts.

September 3rd

Southwold: two Manx Shearwater, an Arctic Skua south and a Black Tern north this afternoon.

Sizewell: three Black Terns and two Arctic Terns at the outfall.

Snape: three Ospreys fishing between here and Iken cliff.

September 2nd

Gorleston: an Arctic Skua south this evening.

Benacre Broad: a Black Tern on the Broad, that then flew out to sea.

Walberswick: six FAN-TAILED WARBLERS still present in the same area.

Minsmere: a Whinchat at Chapel fields.

Sizewell: an Arctic Tern at the outfall.

Hazlewood Marsh: fourteen Spoonbill, a Curlew Sandpiper and an Osprey.

Boyton Marsh: the BLACK STORK on the lake by Boyton Hall Farm.

Landguard: a Whinchat north of the boardwalk.

Nayland: an Osprey flew over west.

Lackford Lakes: twelve Crossbills around path to Bess's Hide.

September 1st

Lowestoft: five Arctic Skuas south off Ness Point.

Oulton Broad: a HOOPOE in a private garden (for 7th day).

Kessingland: the BARRED WARBLER still present north of Benacre Sluice.

Benacre Broad: a Long-tailed Skua chasing gulls offshore and then settled on the sea.

Walberswick: one FAN-TAILED WARBLER reported as still present in the same area but elusive.

Aldeburgh: an Arctic Skua south offshore.

Aldeburgh Marsh: four Curlew Sandpipers still.​
