Suffolk Bird Group have supplied Mike Turton with Starling and Spotted Flycatcher nest boxes for All Saints’ churchyard in Laxfield. The boxes are up and waiting for prospective homeowners to arrive.

Starlings in the UK generally begin their nesting season in March and April. Whereas Spotted flycatchers are late spring migrants that arrive in the UK from their African wintering grounds between late April and early May, with some arriving as late as June.

Mike will be keeping an eye on the boxes for activity this year and sending in his breeding records to the local recorder.

If you yourself, or a local wildlife group in or adjacent to the Coasts & Heaths NL boundary would like nest boxes to install for Spotted Flycatcher, Grey Wagtail and Common Redstart then please do get in touch. We can distribute nest boxes for you to install in suitable locations.
